The Vice-Dean's Office for Educational Affairs and Development, represented by the Graduate Affairs Unit, conducted in cooperation with the Mathematics Department, a training program for potential graduates entitled: Preparing students for the Professional Licensing Test of Educational Positions.
The program was presented by Dr. Jawaher Al-Zahrani, who highlighted the standards and indicators set by the Education and Training Evaluation Commission. She also explained the professional license test and its goal and the minimum standards for a teacher and an applicant to be qualified.
The test consists of two basic parts: First: the general educational test for all specializations. This tests measures three skills (pedagogical, linguistic, and quantitative). ). Second: the specialization test. This test focuses on the concepts of specialization.
36 specializations are approved by the Commission, and this test is one of the tools that contribute to improving the quality of teachers’ performance.
Dr. Jawaher also addressed the targeted skills in this tests and they are: understanding, speed, mental fitness, solving problems quickly, mental effort. Students can learn those skills by taking the sample tests and practicing the professional license questions.
She also provided a detailed explanation with examples about the strategies of answering by reading the question quickly, identifying the key words, knowing what the question means, skimming the choices quickly, excluding illogical choices, determining the correct answer, and finally comparing the answer to the question.
