The Vice-Dean's Office for Educational Affairs and Development, represented by the Alumni Affairs Unit held, in cooperation with the Computer and Information Department, a training course for potential graduate entitled "The Concept of Soft Skills for Graduates of the College of Science".
The course was presented by Dr. Moatasem Al-Khair who addressed many topics including the skills and their importance in the field of employment. The presenter said that having a set of hard and soft skills contribute to achieving professional success. He stressed that hard skills are those technical skills that are acquired through education and training, such as programming or accounting, while soft skills relate to personal and social abilities, such as communication skills, working within a team, and the ability to adapt to challenges.
Dr. Moatasem also explained that soft skills have become one of the most important requirements of the modern labor market, as they greatly affect the ability of candidates to adapt to the work environment and cooperate with colleagues to achieve common goals. Among the most prominent soft skills that were discussed in the workshop are: effective communication skills, critical thinking, crisis management, and negotiation, which are essential for building strong and effective professional relationships.
At the end of the workshop, the importance of continuous skill development was emphasized through ongoing training and participation in activities that enhance social and technical skills. The means of developing soft skills were also addressed, such as interacting with others and learning how to work within multiple teams, which enhances the chances of success and excellence in various fields of work.
