The Engineering Research and Applied Sciences Center was established in 1433 AH / 2012 with the approval of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz - may God have mercy on him - under the name of the Engineering Research and Applied Sciences Center. The center seeks to link scientific research with national and local needs and the private sector to identify their challenges and provide solutions to have a comprehensive economic development. 

The center also seeks to encourage scientific innovations, fund researchers and set research plans and priorities for the academic departments under the center and follow up on their performance.  Collaborating with other centers at the university, the Engineering Research and Applied Sciences Center plays an important role in achieving the university’s mission and vision of serving the community as well as improving the university's ranking locally and globally through research contributions
