President of Majmaah University signs a service agreement with the United Nations Institute for Training and Research

During the meeting, a training, research and advisory services agreement was signed with the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) in Geneva to enhance cooperation in areas of common interest in training, development and research and to enhance joint work in achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. The agreement aims to establish the Ceval Center in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The center will represent the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) from its headquarters in the Kingdom and will contribute to advancing the United Nations 2030 Agenda. The center will also specialize in supporting sustainable development.
The Saudi Arabia-based CEVAL Center joins the 24 CEVAL Global Network, whose mission is to enhance the capacities of government officials and civil society leaders and enable them to advance sustainable development. The network consists of international training centers for bodies and leaders across Asia, Oceania, Africa, Europe, the Americas and the Caribbean. These centers provide innovative learning solutions for individuals, organizations and institutions to enhance global decision-making and support national action to shape a better future.
Mr. Seth, Executive Director of the United Nations Institute for Training and Research, explained that the service contract agreement with the university will develop joint work to support the implementation of the Institute’s strategy and implement various capacity-building activities in the areas of cybersecurity, youth empowerment, and enhancing joint work to achieve the United Nations goals and other activities related to sustainable development, and developing human capital.

The Permanent Representative of Saudi Arabia to the United Nations, Ambassador Dr. Abdulaziz Al-Wasil, attended the event which discussed how higher education institutions can play a pivotal role in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through interdisciplinary learning, knowledge-based and community-oriented actions, and integrating sustainability as a core objective of education and research.
Education leaders from over 10 countries to discuss ways forward in making future policies for higher education institutions. Among the attendees were the Executive Director of the United Nations Institute for Training and Research - Assistant Secretary-General of the United Nations - Nikhil Seth, in addition to a group of presidents of international universities such as: Victoria University, Newcastle University, and high-level representatives from United Nations organizations and the governments of Ireland, Finland, and Croatia.

MU'S RESEARCH TEAM PUBLISHES A RESEARCH IN JOINT EFFORT WITH UNIVERSITY OF HONG KONG

Muhammad Shakeel and Dr. Meshary Al-Zahrani published a paper with in cooperation with the University of Hong Kong in China. The paper was published in the Journal of Global Health with a high impact factor (Impact Factor 7.664).
The published article titled: "Global impacts of COVID-19 on lifestyles and health and preparation preferences: An international survey of 30 countries” focuses on evaluating the large-scale impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on people's lifestyles, health behaviors, and preparedness preferences in 30 different countries.
The study used an international survey approach to collect data on multiple aspects of life, health practices, and personal perceptions during the pandemic.
The study spans 30 countries around the world with 16,512 adults participating, suggesting a global and diverse view of the impacts of the pandemic. 16512 adults were recruited in 30 countries covering all World Health Organization (WHO) regions.
The research employed the survey methodology to collect a wide range of data related to lifestyle changes, health behaviors, and pandemic preparation preferences. The study showed the results of the effects of the pandemic on public health interventions and policies, as well as with regard to how people adjust their lifestyles and healthy behaviors during the pandemic. The study presents options and suggestions to improve strategies to promote well-being and mitigate negative impacts.
It is worth noting that this international cooperation of the university is not new as a number of the team's researches were published in 2021 in BMJ Open and Braine and Behavior journals.

The Applied College has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with two companies: El-faleh Sports House Company and Al-Sulaiman Real Estate Company. This MoU aims to exchange practical and academic experiences between the two sides.
Strategic partnerships, agreements, and MoU between educational institutions and various public and private sectors play effective role in supplying the labor market with national competencies and to saudaize a large segment of jobs. It also enhances the role of community partnership and constructive integration among the state institutions, which is a top priority of the Kingdom's Vision 2030 to improve human resources, citizen efficiency, and skills.
The MoU aims to achieve several goals, including providing training and consulting experiences to students to develop their knowledge and skills, qualifying college students in the best specialized institutions, providing job opportunities for graduate students and exchanging diverse experiences with private sectors.

MU signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Saudi Authority for Data and Artificial Intelligence (SDAIA) to enhance cooperation between the two sides in the field of data and artificial intelligence and as well as smart and secure digital products.
The MoU was signed by MU rector, Prof. Saleh Al-Mizil, and the Deputy Director of the National Information Center, Dr. Meshari Al-Meshari.
This MoU comes in line with the university's endeavor to enhance cooperation with various government sectors via providing a smart and secure digital environment, and launching many joint initiatives that contribute to the development of human cadres in the field of data and artificial intelligence. This will contribute to having a generation of national competencies capable of building an economy, an act that is likely to make the Kingdom among the developed countries by achieving the goals of Saudi Vision 2030.
MU SIGNS MOU WITH THE EMBASSAY OF THE REPUBLIC OF INDONESIA

Majmaah University (MU) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the embassy of the Republic of Indonesia to offer trainings on how to teach the Indonesian language. The signing ceremony was attended by the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Dr. Abdulaziz Ahmed, and the Educational and Cultural Attaché at the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Riyadh, Dr. Badr Al-Saleh. The MoU was signed by MU rector, Prof. Saleh Al-Mizil, and the Ambassador Dr. Abdulaziz Ahmed.
The MoU signed with the embassy of the Republic of Indonesia comes in light of the agreement previously signed by the Minister of Education of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Minister of Education of Indonesia during the historic visit of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud to the Republic of Indonesia. The MoU aims to train international Indonesian students at the university to be qualified in teaching the community the Indonesian language. The students will be internationally certified in training by the SEAMEO Regional Language Centre.
Prior the signing, the Ambassador also met with MU rector in his office to discuss several topics related to the MoU.
The Ambassador was escorted in a tour to the university's facilities including the Astronomical Observatory, where he was briefed about the equipment and achievements in moon sighting. The visit also included discussions on joint research projects on astronomy and related religious matters.
At the end of the visit, the Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia attended the university's graduation ceremony for the 14th batch under the patronage of Riyadh Governor Prince Faisal bin Abdulaziz.
It is worth mentioning that this cooperation is the first of its kind between the Indonesian embassy and Saudi universities.
Japanese Ambassador Visits College of Sciences and Humanities in Ghat

A delegation from the college visits King Faisal Hospital and Research Center in Riyadh
In implementation of the direction of the College of Applied Medical Sciences at Majmaah University to activate community partnership and expand bridges of communication and cooperation with the relevant health authorities, and under the patronage of His Excellency the Dean of the College of Applied Medical Sciences, Dr. Nasser bin Ali Al-Jarallah, a delegation from the Department of Medical Laboratory Science at the College of Applied Medical Sciences at Majmaah University visited King Faisal Hospital and Research Center in Riyadh on Tuesday 2014/10/30 to learn about the resources available in the various departments of medical laboratories in the hospital.
