“I am the Chemist” Activity held by Chemistry Department on Arab Chemistry Week

Within the framework of collaboration between the College of Science in Zulfi and the Department of Education to serve the community, the Department of Chemistry at female campus held a program, entitled “I am the Chemist” under the supervision of Dr. Shadiliah Mahmoud, coordinator of the department, and Mr. Ruba Al-Madeed, coordinator of student activities.
The activity which was organized on the occasion of the Arab Chemistry Week which is held annually on October with the aim of highlighting the role chemistry plays in students’ scientific and practical life.
After welcoming students who attended the activity, Dr. Mahmoud pointed out the mission and goals of the department followed by the student Rahaf Al-Ruqi’s presentation which focused on outlining the history of chemistry and major scholars in the field.
Kholoud Al-Shalhub, a student, also delivered a presentation about branches of chemistry science and the job opportunities a graduate of chemistry can get.
Several entertaining competitions and extracurricular activities were held such as soap industry and volcano eruption.
Lectures explicating the safety rules in labs were presented.
