The 5th scientific meeting of Mathematics Department for the first term of the academic year 1439-1440 AH was held in the presence of the Head of Mathematics Department Dr. Ziad Al Hussein and the department faculty members.
Dr. Mohammed Omer Mahjoub presented the meeting titled: “A brief History of Calculus” and addressed the importance of the study and analysis of the history of mathematics in grasping the different mathematical concepts and ideas, followed by clarifying the different roles and multiple contributions of the mathematicians in the genesis and development of the science of calculus starting from prehistoric times to the seventeenth century, with a focus on the vital role of Isaac Newton and Leibniz in the development of the current perception of the theories of this science.
The meeting was concluded with a Q&A session to answer questions and listen to the faculty members' feedback.
