AS Department of Computer Sciences and Information organizing the event, a number of department students made a visit to King Abdullah City for Sciences and Technology in Riyadh. At the beginning of the study, the students went to robot section where they got to know two types of robot packages. The first package contains ready basic software components while the second package includes more advanced material and only specialists and engineers work on it. Afterwards, there was a presentation for four samples of robot that were designed in King Abdulaziz City; two of them function for discovering explosives and destroying them; the third for sensing fire and putting it out whereas the fourth for surveillance and spying. All of these robots have normal, night and thermal cameras that could be controlled wirelessly. King Abdullah City has been granted a patent for these robots. Then, the students went to see another side of the city inventions among of which is a small wireless plane has cameras that could identify faces of people and the cars’ plates. Later on, the students went to see another side of the city inventions among of which is man-made parts. These were displayed among of which is the man-made hand; it is not fixed but it can make five moves through the muscles. King Abdullah City has been granted patent for inventing such brilliant idea and designing it. Afterwards, the students went to the Public Administration for Information, and the role of the administration was thoroughly explained to them and how to benefit from it. For instance, the administration receives the researchers’ orders via e-mails, and then communication will be carried out with researchers to provide them with all scientific theses and researches as well as books that could be helpful. In the event the order is not available in the specific database of the administration, they contact the British library to provide the order. These services are provided for all researchers without charge. Then, they went to visit the section of satellite dishes, and some pictures were taken through satellites. Also, they were introduced to the way the 3D pictures are produced. Later, they got to know the three types of satellites the city uses which are Sbot, icons and Jewy which is the most accurate as it reaches half-meter for every pixel. At the end of the visit, the tour coordinator Mr. Abdulminem Alabdulminem accompanied by Dr. Hamad Qurashi and Dr. Mahdin Aljamali extended thanks and appreciation to the administration of public relations in King Abdulaziz City City for their great hospitality, and a memorable souvenir was presented by the university to King Abdulaziz City. Also, the City presented symbolic gifts to the students.
