The Student Club at the College of Nursing participated in the World Mental Health Day which was organized by the Deanship of Student Affairs on Thursday. The event aims to boost students' awareness of the importance of mental health. Several booths were set up including:
A booth for introducing the importance of mental health: The concept of mental health and its importance in the life of a university student was highlighted, as well as its positive impact on academic achievement and social relationships.
A booth for common psychological conditions among students such as
Anxiety attacks and panic attacks: This booth provided an explanation of the symptoms of anxiety and panic attacks, which many students suffer from, especially during exam periods, with practical strategies for dealing with these cases.
Feeling frustrated and depressed: This booth discussed how to recognize signs of depression and frustration, with advice and guidance for overcoming these stages in a healthy and safe manner.
Controlling reactions: Participants provided guidance on how to manage reactions in difficult situations, with a focus on improving coping skills with stress.
Exercise to measure mental health: Club members applied an interactive exercise for attendees to measure their mental health and clarify points that can be improved.
Explanation of the wheel of feelings: A demonstration of the wheel of feelings and how to use it was provided, to enable attendees to describe their feelings in an accurate way, which helps improve the ability to express and understand feelings.
These booths aim to enhance psychological awareness among students and provide the necessary support to help them face the psychological challenges they may face during their academic journey, which contributes to creating a healthy and balanced university environment.
