In the presence of Dr. Fayez Al-Fayez, Head of Computer Science and Information Department, the fifth seminar, for the Academic Year 1442-1443 AH, was held virtually using the blackboard system.
Presented by Dr. Mohammed Wajeeh, the title of the seminar is “Convolutional Neural Network”.
The seminar addressed the convolutional neural networks and their applications in the field of research. These convolutional neural networks consist of multiple layers of artificial neurons that roughly imitate their biological counterparts, and they are mathematical associations that calculate the weighted sum of multi-valued inputs and outputs, through which the behavior of each neuron is determined by its weights.
Dr. Wajeeh also talked about applications based on convolutional neural networks in image and video recognition, recommendation systems, image classification, image segmentation, medical image analysis, natural language processing, brain-computer interfaces, and financial time series.
A Q&A session was conducted for faculty members which was very informative.
