The Vice-Dean's Office for Educational and Development Affairs, represented by the Student Activities Unit, in cooperation with the Department of Biology, held a training course for students entitled: Vitamins, the absent secret in our lives.
The course was presented by Dr. Marwan Ibrahim (Assistant Professor of Physiology, Department of Biology), and addressed the following topics:
- Definition of vitamins, their types, and their importance for humans
- Effective role of vitamins in the production of enzymes, hormones, and other substances necessary for normal growth
- The extent of vitamins' importance in the proper performance of body functions at all stages of life
- Importance of vitamins in avoiding certain diseases and symptoms resulting from deficiency or excess in vitamins-
- Daily need and natural sources of vitamins from different foods.
