The College of Science in Zulfi, represented by Unit of Community Service in the female campus held a course titled: “Arabic Gum, the forgotten African Food”, presented by Dr. Mai Makki.
Dr. Makki defined the Arabic term Gum and explained its physical and chemical characteristics as well as its uses in daily life, effects on the body and side effects.
She also explained that there are a number of recent studies that have led to expanding the use of the Arabic gum as food that is rich of soluble fiber and easy to digest.
The course aimed to raise health awareness of natural products and provide information and expertise toward a healthy lifestyle.
